On Friday evening Chester Liberal Democrats selected former Hoole councillor Bob Thompson as their candidate for the upcoming general election on December 12th.

Bob, who previously stood as the candidate in 2015 in Chester, has been campaigning to Build a Brighter Future in Chester since the early 1990s.
A life long Chester FC supporter, Bob has for over 20 years been a Liberal Democrat councillor at parish, town, and city council level, before being elected as one of the councillors for Hoole in 2008 for the newly formed Cheshire West and Chester Borough Council.
During this time Bob has campaigned to ensure that the views of residents not only in Hoole but around Chester have been listened to.
Notably Bob was one of the councillors willing to stand up against the proposed student village on greenbelt land in Blacon, and has led the campaign in Hoole to save The Elms Surgery and protect the vibrant and thriving high street.
