We would like to unreservedly apologise to the race course for our recent article in the Hoole Focus claiming that they had paid no rent. We retract that article in full. We were led into a misunderstanding by a recent FOI request regarding what agreements are in place between the race course and the council. The response to the FOI is rather obtuse and we inferred that no payments had been received when in fact it turns out that the council have received substantial monies from the race course each year in rent and profit share. It is clear to us now that it is simply that there is currently no formal agreement between the council and the race course.
