Safeguarding children – The Council condemned by OFSTED
A recent report(pdf) stated that the Council has “serious weaknesses in child protection investigations and a poor level of management oversight”. There is “failure to adequately manage known risk and provide effective protection, leaving some children at risk of significant harm”. Damning indeed. Unless rapidly corrected, the next overall rating of the children’s services is unlikely to be better than ‘performing poorly’. A previous report in 2007 suggested the Conservatives in the old County Council had a problem, but it would appear the situation has got worse. What is going on? The council have a problem with safeguarding our children ... When are they going to fix it? Further OFSTED reports on Cheshire West and Chester here.
