Lord Wallace makes a persuasive argument in his recent article (link below) for giving 16 & 17 year olds the vote in the EU referendum. After all the outcome of the vote will directly affect them in the future.
The Liberal Democrats are in favour of 16 year olds having the vote. After all they can get married, have children, join the military at 16, yet are not trusted with the vote.
The Liberal Democrats are in favour of the EU for many reasons, we are better off together; it’s the single largest market, 4.2 million jobs in the UK are associated with exports to the EU, £400bn in trade set against £12bn in costs, we can travel freely in EU without visas and the EU accounts for 20% of world GDP. And that’s just a few of the economic benefits.
So please read Lord Wallace article below and look into the issues yourself.
